Guerra de la Paz is the composite name that represents the creative team efforts of Cuban born artists, Alain Guerra and Neraldo de la Paz. What began as an idea for two individual artists to share a working studio in Miami's Little Haiti, has become an ongoing collaboration that has evolved into constant experimentation, manifesting into a body of work that spans over eleven years in a variety of formats.

The primary focus of their work deals with transforming the found object. Inviting the viewer to experience the work at a more personal level through recollections conjured up by their association to the familiar recycled items. It is important to the artist that the essence of the materials used be as evident as the concept, whether it is incorporated as a whole or deconstructed.

The reoccurring theme referencing and reinterpreting historic icons and classic imagery under a contemporary context, develops a dialog on current events. They believe that their work has universal meaning. It speaks of life, its cyclical patterns and dichotomies.

The recipient of the 2008 SCOPE Foundation Grant for artist project “Under the Banyan Tree,” they are are represented in the Satchi Collection (London), 21C Museum Foundation (Louisville, KY), Frost Art Museum (Miami, FL), (MAM) Miami Art Museum (Miami, FL), and The Cintas Fellows Collection.
