Heather Hart is fascinated by the absurdity of our society simple definitions. How as humans, we relate to each other and our surronding materials. Perception. Assumption. Hermeneutics. Semantics. And how they contribute to our forming our identity. Through her installations, she explores how malleable our identities are and how our individual perception of reality influences what we accept as truth.
Initially her work is abstractly conceptual, but upon greater examination one finds that she use these tools to present a metaphor for the elusive nature of identity - perception versus reality. Like an object that is both violent and comforting, hard and soft, simple and laborious, through her installtions she draws paraells which highlight how we are equally as complicated. |
