Jackie Jones is a young female painter from the American heartland. Her portraits strive for perfect overall harmony within the composition.  Her stylized figures have a heightened almost vintage color palette. She frequently employees a flat slick surface blending a refined, almost academic painting style with an open road coolness.

Her sitters are often cropped from their body and scaled to sit intimately close to the canvas’ edge where they are set against a bold, neutral ground with few naturalistic details or clues to the place or setting. The series employes a hint of abstraction where many of the color surface changes are regarded with a looser broader handling, reducing finer details with a high contrast empathic hand.

The recipient of multiply grants and awards Jackie Jones will receive her BFA in 2008.
