ANNA FRANTS
Lives and works in New York
Born Russia | 1965
Anna Frants pieces wed the perfect preportions and form of greek pottery, with contemporary moving images through projection in her series 'Made In Ancient Greece'. two mediums that, on their own tend to be very serious, are juxtaposed playfully in a truly unique way.
Anna's most engaging pieces are also her most subtle. Her video installations are delightfully simple reexaminations of things one might tend to take for granted. Through Frants' contextualization of these moments the viewer can't help but closely examine these situations, allowing Frants to effectively build an evocative comparison, of which her video installation "Fur Die Stadt" is a prime example.
Anna has attended Muhina Academy of Arts, St. Petersburg, Russia as well as The Pratt Institute School of Advanced Studies in New York. She exhibits internationally, with shows in Russia, Germany, Japan, China, and the U.S.
