Ryan Wolfe's interactive installations are something to experience firsthand. His pieces are studies of group behaviour. 'Branching', a modular installation consisting of a series of vines who's leaves respond to input by the viewer and in turn respond to other leaves, is a very literal presentation of Lorenz's famous "butterfly effect". Ryans' work is heavily centred on patterns and their relationships, both spatial and kenetic. These installations function as a sort of physical experiential poetry, in that each piece is the careful distillation of the components of an experience. 'Field of grass' is an installation that seeks to recreate the feeling of being in a field of grass as the wind blows them. Each blade responds to wind data, and one can watch an uninterrupted gust of wind blow the length of the piece. He continues to create animate and interactive sculpture and design objects that incorporate technology in beautiful and evocative ways.

Ryan has a B.A. in Interaction Design from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and is currently completing his Ph.D. of Digital Arts/Experimental Media at DXARTS, University of Washington, in Seattle, where he lives and works. Artist is repersented Dam, Stuhltrager Gallery Brooklyn, Berlin
